Juan José Ríos, Sinaloa (Mexico)
Beaten

Rosario was found dead in her home.
CULIACÁN._ Human rights and sexual diversity organizations and activists in Sinaloa demanded justice for "Charis," a trans woman found dead in her home in the municipality of Juan José Ríos on Monday, July 14.
In a statement signed by groups such as Che Ríos Diverso, Sinaloa Incluyente, Ahome Diverso, and Sabuesos Guerreras, they called on the State to take action against the ongoing violence against LGBTIQA+ people.
“Charis was found dead in her home in Juan José Ríos. Her life was brutally taken from her. Her dignity was taken from her. And with that, they also tried to take away her right to be remembered with respect.
“Charis was a trans person. A person with dreams, with a life, with a story. They didn't just kill her; they also dehumanized her,” they said.
The groups demanded that the case be investigated as a hate crime, that the victim's identity be respected, and that her re-victimization in the media be avoided.
In addition, they demanded the implementation of public policies with a human rights focus and protection for trans and LGBTIQ+ people in the state.
“Those who killed Charis did not act alone. The violence that allowed her murder comes from a silent state, from institutions that fail to act, from media outlets that erase identities, and from those who insult, attack, and deny rights every day,” the statement reads.
