Moisa made her living selling lottery tickets. She died in her apartment after being attacked in the street.
A member of the Lesbian, Gay, Trans, Bisexual, Intersex, and Queer (LGBTQI+) community was murdered Saturday morning in the Bográn neighborhood, in the northern part of the country.
The victim was identified as [deadname] Reyes, 51, who made theirliving selling lottery tickets. According to the preliminary report, Reyes was attacked with a knife in a public street. Seriously wounded, they managed to get to his apartment, where they ultimately died.
The incident has caused alarm among neighbors and family members, who said they pay for security services to ensure their peace of mind, but this attack has highlighted their vulnerability.
According to the Violence Observatory of the National Autonomous University of Honduras (OV-UNAH), an average of six people die violently every day in the country.
Police authorities are investigating the motive for the crime and have not ruled out hate crimes.
