Yuliza's body was found with gunshot wounds on a road a few hours after her family had reported her missing.

On December 30, 2025, Yulitza Orozco, a trans woman and member of the LGBT+ community, was found dead with multiple gunshot wounds to the head on the road connecting El Retiro and Pantanillo, in the municipality of La Ceja, in eastern Antioquia.

Her family had reported her disappearance to the authorities, and hours later her body was found with violent injuries. In addition to her loved ones, the community of La Ceja is devastated by the events, given that the victim was well-known in the area.

The organization Caribe Afirmativo presented figures from its Human Rights Observatory and warned that so far in 2025, 67 people from the LGBT+ community have been murdered in Colombia, including Yulitza Orozco. In a message published on X, the group demanded that the Prosecutor's Office conduct the investigation with a gender perspective and expressed its condolences to Orozco's family and friends.

“ We deeply regret the murder of Yulitza, a trans woman, in La Ceja, Antioquia . We call on the Colombian Attorney General's Office (@FiscaliaCol) to investigate this crime with a gender perspective. We extend our condolences to her friends and family,” the organization stated on social media.

The Ombudsman, Iris Marín, condemned the murder of the trans woman and attributed the events to a case of discrimination that escalated into the worst possible scenario of violence. Like Caribe Afirmativo, she expressed her condolences to the victim's family.

“The murder of trans women is one of the crimes that demonstrates the levels of discrimination that should be intolerable in a democratic society . A heartfelt embrace of solidarity with the loved ones of Yulitza Orozco and all LGBTQ+ people. They should not have to live in fear and vulnerability,” the official stated.
