Aitana was killed in a knife attack in the centre of Cuauhtémoc.
Cuauhtémoc, Chih.- A trans woman identified as Aitana was murdered in the city of Cuauhtémoc, activists and collectives reported this Sunday.
According to a social media post by Mayté Regina Tardes, of Unión y Fuerza de Mujeres Trans Chihuahuenses, Aitana was the victim of a knife attack in the center of the city.
"We demand justice and a swift investigation that adheres to human rights and does not revictimize the victim and her community of sex workers. The events occurred in the city center, which is why we call on the authorities of that municipality to clarify the situation and arrest whoever is responsible," the activist stated.
For its part, the LGBTTIQ+ Collective Niráami Cuauhtémoc also issued a statement demanding justice from authorities at all three levels of government for the victim of transfeminicide.
"As the LGBTTIQ+ Niraami Collective we raise our voice to strongly condemn the hate crime committed against Aitana, a member of our LGBTTIQ+ community.
Her loss not only deeply hurts his family and loved ones, but it also hurts us as a community, as it highlights the violence and discrimination that still persist against those of us who live our identity freely."
