"La Peli"

La Peli was shot in the street by an unidentified assailant riding a motorcycle.

The murder of a trans woman, legally identified as [deadname] Martínez Leal, 31, which occurred on the afternoon of Thursday, January 15, in the La Nevada neighborhood, in Valledupar, unleashed the rejection of human rights defenders, who demanded greater security guarantees and concrete actions by local authorities.

According to the Valledupar Metropolitan Police, the event took place around 5:15 in the afternoon on Carrera 48 and Calle 6-8. The victim was attacked with a firearm by a subject riding a motorcycle who, according to witnesses, fired indiscriminately before fleeing the scene. The victim was taken to the Eduardo Arredondo Daza Hospital, La Nevada headquarters, where she was admitted without vital signs.

The victim, known in the community as 'la Peli', was a trans woman of Venezuelan nationality, who had arrived in the capital of Cesar approximately three months ago and was carrying out informal activities in the area at the time of the attack.
