Beatrice died by suicide. Local media misgendered her and erased her trans identity.
A 14-year-old girl has taken her own life in the province of Ragusa. According to reports by activists and #trans groups on social media, the victim is a young trans girl.
The news, initially reported by the local press as the suicide of "a boy of just 14," sparked a strong reaction among the trans and LGBTQIA+ community, who denounced misgendering and the silence surrounding the young woman's identity.
The Instagram account @themystictsunade_ reframed the story with a different perspective.
The slides published read: "A young 14-year-old trans sister committed suicide in Ragusa." And again: "Her name will not be in the newspapers. It will not be on her grave. Once again, the same story. The same silence. The same repression, the same censorship, even in death."
The language used is political and blunt. The author denounces "double standards even in death" and speaks of a "deafening silence," claiming that the story was reported without acknowledging the young woman's identity.
Currently, official information is limited to what has been published in the local press and the mayor's message. There are no official communications acknowledging the young woman's gender identity.
Although initial reports did not give her name, it was subsequently revealed that her social name was Beatrice.

Beatrice deserved only to shine.
Damn the patriarchy, damn transmisogyny, damn the silence, damn the despicable and mistaken words of the media and the political class.
Damn the executioner families, damn the complicit state, damn the silence of our neighbors.
Damn this world that wants us dead.
Blessed, however, is sisterhood, which must translate not only into solidarity but also into searching: we must seek and find one another, like travelers in this long night, searching for our sisters, in the depths of our lands.
To tear ourselves away from loneliness, hatred, and death.
And save ourselves.
