Samanta died in hospittal after being stabbed by her partner during an argument. He was arrested shortly after the attack.
Domestic violence has claimed another victim in Sertão do Araripe. A 32-year-old trans woman, identified as Samanta, died after being stabbed last Saturday (21), in Vila Saraiva, in Trindade, Pernambuco. The main suspect in the crime is her partner, Antônio Santos Rodrigues, 38, who was arrested by the police shortly after the attack.
According to information from the Military Police, the patrol was called by residents of the area who heard a heated argument coming from inside a house. Upon arriving at the property, the police found Samanta seriously injured. The aggressor had already fled the scene.
Police teams immediately began searching the area and located Antônio Santos Rodrigues. According to the official report, the man tried to flee and resisted arrest, but was subdued and arrested on the spot. Officers seized the knife that was possibly used to stab the victim.
Samanta received initial treatment at a health unit in Trindade. Due to the severity of her injuries, she was urgently transferred to a hospital in Ouricuri, also in the Sertão do Araripe region. Despite medical efforts, she succumbed to her injuries and her death was confirmed.
The case was forwarded to the Civil Police Station, which is investigating the motive for the crime. The suspect remains at the disposal of the Justice system and is expected to face charges of aggravated homicide.
